Hello,
This is my web blog based on my chosen research topic for gender representations. My research is based around Post 1960 Disney princess films such as Cinderella and Snow White, also post 1960s Disney princess fims such as Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. I also look at more recent princess movies by Disney and how the representation of gender has changed drastically over the years.

Story lines within pre 1960s Disney films consist of; boy meets girl they fall in love and go on a journey, hinting that these females are dumb and naive when falling for men. Whereas, pre 1960s have also used this storyline but with a bit more bite to the princess, developing the traditional female stereotype and representations. However, recent films such as Brave doesn’t even include a prince and follows a young, independent princess who is looking to rebel against the traditional traits of being a female protagonist. This shows the progression of Disney developing gender representations and fitting into the modern equal society.

This video shows feminism within Disney, and how the Pre 1960s Disney Princess movies with boy saves girl has completely swapped to girl saves boy. From dependant princess to independent princess..
